Merchandise arrived on time. Disc 2 will not play. I'm not sure if the problem is with my player or the disc.

The great strength of this show is its quietly commanding, un-TV-like sense of pacing. You wouldn't call this a suspense show, yet the bottled-up, stealthy sense of pacing keeps us in a tantalizingly unnerved state; you always wait for that cork to explode unexpectedly. The brilliance here is that the explosion factor doesn't always come when we expect it; but the build-up leads us to believe it will. Those explosions come when the build-up has not been prepared, and happens in a swift, tightly controlled manner, never spilling over into predictably cheap shock value.
After each show, we smile, having been on the edge of our seats, engrossed, and left deeply satisfied - and impatient for next week. Thursdays at 10:00. Phone turned off, a glass of wine or spirits.

Searched high and low trying to get the special packaging. A bungled mess with Barnes & Noble. Then the sub-vendors began selling via box-set. Happy day! The only reason a person would go through such a hunt to get the special packaging is to keep it for collecting.

Mad Men is smart, classy, historically fascinating, and completely addicting. The writing, actors, situations, and storylines will just pull you in. Set in the 60's, Mad Men follows the lives of Madison Avenue advertising executives and their families. The program's slower pace, dreamy quality, and fascinating simplicity of the times make it one of the best TV dramas we have ever watched. We are hooked!
